Recommend a Tear-jerker
I don’t intentionally read tear-jerkers. I hate them. I ruin books, it ruins my mood, I have a terrible crying headache… it’s just bad business.
In the Shadow of Blackbirds is basically amazing. It’s a compelling story, Mary Shelley Black is the kind of daughter I’d adore if I’d been a person who’d wanted kids, she’s a kickass MC. I loved it, even though it broke me emotionally.
Go read it.
Describe How You Shop for Books
With adult supervision.
Seriously, there have been times where I swear I’m just picking something up, and five minutes turns into two hours. I LOVE bookstores. It’s a challenge for me to walk in and walk out with nothing. It pains me.
Sometimes I have a list of the books I want, sometimes I go in blind and picked based on covers. Always my bank account is too low. The last book I bought was Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Wait, that’s a lie. The last book I bought was Poison: An Illustrated History while picking up my tickets to Neil’s reading in Atlanta. Because I can’t help myself. I have a lot of books currently on the TBR list. My next acquisition will be Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. I just need it.
